Our night of nights is here!!!! The Wagga NAIDOC Ball & Awards recognise the achievements of our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, history and achievements.

Guests will be spoilt with a 3-course-meal, live entertainment, complimentary drink on arrival and cultural performances.

In 2022, our award categories are:

  1. Community Person of the Year

Awarded to an individual who is doing great things in our community and their field of choice and is a positive role model for all.

    2. Young Person of the Year (18-25yrs)

This award was created to highlight the young people in our community that are doing amazing things in their chosen area whilst being a positive role model for their generation and others. This award will encourage our young people to continue the work they are doing and know that their community sees them.

    3. Reconciliation Award (open to non-Aboriginal people)

This award was created to show gratitude to non-Aboriginal people who are true allies for our community and who are passionate about reconciliation.

   4. Caring for Country and Culture Award

This award was created to showcase the deadly work being done in our community to protect and promote Country and culture.

    5. Speak Truly Award

This award was created in honour of the 2022 National NAIDOC theme- Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! And will showcase the work being done by those passionate about causes in our community and creating change in a positive way.

     6. Innovation Award

This award was created to shine a light on those finding new ways to achieve in our community.

     7. Yindyamarra Award

 

This award was created to honour those in our community who move humbly with yindyamarra and are a positive role model for our community.

 

    8. Lifetime Achievement Award

This award was created to show gratitude to those people in our community who have displayed a life-long commitment to working towards the progression of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in their field of choice.
